Private Chef in Germany – The Honest Guide

Hiring a private chef in Germany costs between €95 and €130 per person – including groceries, cooking, service and cleaning up afterwards. The minimum spend is around €300 to €400 for the evening. This is not a price for a service. It is a price for an evening that stays with you.

What is included

When you book through peopleeat, everything is taken care of. Your chef plans the menu together with you – tailored to the occasion, your tastes and any special requests. They shop for all ingredients, come to your home, cook, serve every course and leave your kitchen clean. You do not need to think about shopping lists, timing or washing up. You are the host – fully. Drinks are not included. You bring your own wine, with no corkage fee.

Who are the Chefs

The chefs on peopleeat are trained professionals with real restaurant backgrounds who have chosen to cook privately. Sunil, based in Frankfurt, has worked in some of Europe's most celebrated kitchens – including Frantzén in Stockholm, a three Michelin star restaurant. His cooking combines French precision with Nordic clarity and Asian influences. An evening with Sunil is fine dining in your own dining room. Mariia, based in Berlin, trained at Le Cordon Bleu and the Ritz Escoffier in Paris, has run her own pop-up events and appeared on "The Taste", Germany's largest cooking show. Her food is honest, creative and full of intention. Salvatore, based in Cologne, is Italian by origin with experience in Rome, Edinburgh and Munich – including years at Rocco Forte Hotels. He cooks for private guests today because the direct connection with people is what drives him.

What affects the price

The most important factor is group size. A chef is booked for one evening regardless of how many people sit at the table. The fixed cost is shared across all guests. Two people pay more per head than twelve. From six guests upwards, a private chef evening is comparable in price to a good restaurant – with the difference that this evening belongs entirely to you. The menu also affects the price. A classic three-course dinner sits differently to a six-course tasting menu with premium ingredients. Wagyu, lobster or truffle are available on request, priced honestly at market rates.

Private chef vs. restaurant – an honest comparison

A good restaurant in Frankfurt or Berlin costs between €80 and €120 per person for food alone – without drinks, without travel, without any ability to adapt the menu to your preferences. Add drinks and a taxi and you are quickly at €150 to €180 per head. A private chef through peopleeat costs €95 to €130 – everything included. Just for you. In your home. With a menu that no one else is eating that evening. The difference is not the price. The difference is what remains.
