Privacy Policy
Personal data (hereinafter mostly just “data”) is processed by us only to the extent necessary and for the purpose of providing a functional and user-friendly website, including its content and the services offered there.
Pursuant to Art. 4 No. 1 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, i.e. the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter only “GDPR”), “processing” means any operation or set of operations performed with or without the aid of automated processes in connection with personal data, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.
With the following privacy policy, we inform you in particular about the type, scope, purpose, duration and legal basis of the processing of personal data, insofar as we alone or jointly with others decide on the purposes and means of processing. We also inform you below about the third-party components we use for optimization and to improve the quality of use, insofar as third parties process data under their own responsibility as a result.
Our privacy policy is structured as follows:
I. Information about us as the controller
II. Rights of users and data subjects
III. Information on data processing
I. Information about us as the controller
The controller providing this website within the meaning of data protection law is:
PeopleEat UGMontgolfier-Allee 24
60486, Frankfurt am Main
Phone: +49 115678459804
Email: contact@people-eat.com
II. Rights of users and data subjects
With regard to the data processing described in more detail below, users and data subjects have the right
- to confirmation as to whether data concerning them is being processed, to information about the data processed, to further information about the data processing and to copies of the data (see also Art. 15 GDPR);
- to rectification or completion of incorrect or incomplete data (see also Art. 16 GDPR);
- to immediate erasure of data concerning them (see also Art. 17 GDPR), or, alternatively, insofar as further processing is required pursuant to Art. 17 (3) GDPR, to restriction of processing pursuant to Art. 18 GDPR;
- to receive the data concerning them and provided by them and to transmit this data to other providers/controllers (see also Art. 20 GDPR);
- to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority if they believe that the data concerning them is being processed by the provider in violation of data protection provisions (see also Art. 77 GDPR).
In addition, the provider is obliged to inform all recipients to whom data has been disclosed by the provider of any rectification or erasure of data or restriction of processing carried out pursuant to Articles 16, 17 (1), 18 GDPR. This obligation does not apply if such notification is impossible or involves disproportionate effort. Notwithstanding this, the user has a right to information about these recipients.
Users and data subjects also have the right under Art. 21 GDPR to object to the future processing of data concerning them, insofar as the data is processed by the provider pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR. In particular, an objection to data processing for the purpose of direct marketing is permissible.
III. Information on data processing
Your data processed when using our website will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose of storage no longer applies, deletion is not opposed by statutory retention obligations and no other information is provided below regarding individual processing procedures.
Cookie Manager
To obtain consent for the use of cookies that are not technically necessary on the website, the provider uses a cookie manager.
When the website is accessed, a cookie with the settings information is stored on the user’s device so that the consent query does not have to be repeated on a subsequent visit.
The cookie is required to obtain the user’s consent in a legally compliant manner.
The user can prevent or stop the installation of cookies via their browser settings.
Cookies
a) Session cookies
We use so-called cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files or other storage technologies that are placed and stored on your device by the internet browser you use. Through these cookies, certain information from you is processed to an individual extent, such as your browser or location data or your IP address.
This processing makes our website more user-friendly, effective and secure, because the processing enables, for example, the display of our website in different languages or the provision of a shopping cart function.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) lit. b) GDPR, insofar as these cookies process data for the initiation or performance of a contract.
If the processing is not for the initiation or performance of a contract, our legitimate interest lies in improving the functionality of our website. The legal basis is then Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR.
These session cookies are deleted when you close your internet browser.
b) Third-party cookies
Where applicable, cookies from partner companies with which we cooperate for advertising, analysis or the functionality of our website are also used on our website.
Please refer to the following information for details, in particular regarding the purposes and legal bases of processing such third-party cookies.
c) Removal option
You can prevent or restrict the installation of cookies by adjusting your internet browser settings. You can also delete cookies already stored at any time. The steps and measures required for this depend on the specific internet browser you use. If you have questions, please use the help function or documentation of your internet browser or contact its manufacturer or support. In the case of so-called Flash cookies, however, processing cannot be prevented via the browser settings. Instead, you must change the settings of your Flash Player. The steps and measures required for this also depend on the specific Flash Player you use. If you have questions, please likewise use the help function or documentation of your Flash Player or contact the manufacturer or user support.
If you prevent or restrict the installation of cookies, this may mean that not all functions of our website are fully usable.
Contact requests / contact options
If you contact us via contact form or email, the data you provide will be used to process your request. Providing the data is necessary to process and respond to your request — without it we cannot answer your request at all or only to a limited extent.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) lit. b) GDPR.
Your data will be deleted once your request has been finally answered and deletion is not opposed by statutory retention obligations, for example in the event of a subsequent contractual relationship.
Customer account / registration function
If you create a customer account with us via our website, we will collect and store the data you enter during registration (e.g. your name, address or email address) exclusively for pre-contractual services, for contract performance or for customer care (e.g. to provide you with an overview of your previous orders with us or to offer a watchlist function). At the same time, we then store the IP address and the date and time of your registration. Of course, this data is not passed on to third parties.
As part of the further registration process, your consent to this processing is obtained and reference is made to this privacy policy. The data we collect in this context is used exclusively to provide the customer account.
Insofar as you consent to this processing, Art. 6 (1) lit. a) GDPR is the legal basis for the processing.
If opening the customer account also serves pre-contractual measures or contract performance, Art. 6 (1) lit. b) GDPR is also a legal basis for this processing.
You may revoke the consent you have given us to open and maintain the customer account pursuant to Art. 7 (3) GDPR at any time with effect for the future. To do so, you only need to notify us of your revocation.
The data collected in this respect will be deleted as soon as processing is no longer necessary. However, we must observe tax and commercial retention periods.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to our free newsletter, the data requested for this purpose, i.e. your email address and — optionally — your name and address, will be transmitted to us. At the same time, we store the IP address of the internet connection from which you access our website as well as the date and time of your subscription. As part of the further subscription process, we will obtain your consent to send the newsletter, specifically describe the content and refer to this privacy policy. We use the data collected exclusively for sending the newsletter — it is therefore also not passed on to third parties.
The legal basis here is Art. 6 (1) lit. a) GDPR.
You may revoke your consent to receive the newsletter pursuant to Art. 7 (3) GDPR at any time with effect for the future. To do so, you only need to notify us of your revocation or use the unsubscribe link contained in every newsletter.
User posts, comments and reviews
We offer you the opportunity to publish questions, answers, opinions or reviews — hereinafter only “posts” — on our web pages. If you make use of this offer, we process and publish your post, the date and time of submission and any pseudonym you may use.
The legal basis here is Art. 6 (1) lit. a) GDPR. You may revoke your consent pursuant to Art. 7 (3) GDPR at any time with effect for the future. To do so, you only need to notify us of your revocation.
In addition, we also process your IP and email address. The IP address is processed because we have a legitimate interest in taking or supporting further steps if your post infringes the rights of third parties and/or is otherwise unlawful.
The legal basis in this case is Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in any necessary legal defense.
Online job applications / publication of job advertisements
We offer you the opportunity to apply to us via our website. In the case of these digital applications, your applicant and application data are collected and processed electronically by us to handle the application process.
The legal basis for this processing is Section 26 (1) sentence 1 BDSG in conjunction with Art. 88 (1) GDPR.
If an employment contract is concluded after the application process, we store the data you submitted with the application in your personnel file for the purpose of the usual organizational and administrative process — naturally in compliance with further legal obligations.
The legal basis for this processing is likewise Section 26 (1) sentence 1 BDSG in conjunction with Art. 88 (1) GDPR.
If an application is rejected, we automatically delete the data transmitted to us two months after the rejection is announced. Deletion does not take place, however, if the data must be stored for a longer period of up to four months or until the conclusion of legal proceedings due to statutory provisions, e.g. because of evidential obligations under the AGG.
The legal basis in this case is Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR and Section 24 (1) No. 2 BDSG. Our legitimate interest lies in legal defense or enforcement.
If you expressly consent to longer storage of your data, e.g. for inclusion in an applicant or interested-party database, the data will continue to be processed on the basis of your consent. The legal basis is then Art. 6 (1) lit. a) GDPR. Of course, you may revoke your consent at any time pursuant to Art. 7 (3) GDPR by notifying us with effect for the future.
Server data
For technical reasons, in particular to ensure a secure and stable website, data is transmitted by your internet browser to us or to our web space provider. With these so-called server log files, among other things the type and version of your internet browser, the operating system, the website from which you switched to our website (referrer URL), the website(s) of our website that you visit, the date and time of the respective access and the IP address of the internet connection from which our website is used are collected.
The data collected in this way is stored temporarily, but not together with other data of yours.
This storage takes place on the legal basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the improvement, stability, functionality and security of our website.
The data is deleted again after no more than seven days, unless further retention is required for evidential purposes. Otherwise, the data is wholly or partly exempt from deletion until an incident has been finally clarified.
To promote our products and services and to communicate with interested parties or customers, we operate a company presence on the Facebook platform.
On this social media platform we are jointly responsible with Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland.
Facebook’s data protection officer can be reached via a contact form:
https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/540977946302970
We have regulated the joint responsibility in an agreement regarding the respective obligations within the meaning of the GDPR. This agreement, from which the mutual obligations arise, is available at the following link:
https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/page_controller_addendum
The legal basis for the processing of personal data resulting therefrom and reproduced below is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, communication as well as the sale and promotion of our products and services.
The legal basis may also be the user’s consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR vis-à-vis the platform operator. The user may revoke this consent at any time for the future pursuant to Art. 7 (3) GDPR by notifying the platform operator.
When our online presence on the Facebook platform is accessed, Facebook Ireland Ltd. as the operator of the platform in the EU processes user data (e.g. personal information, IP address, etc.).
This user data serves to provide statistical information about the use of our company presence on Facebook. Facebook Ireland Ltd. uses this data for market research and advertising purposes as well as to create user profiles. On the basis of these profiles, Facebook Ireland Ltd. is able, for example, to advertise to users within and outside Facebook based on their interests. If the user is logged into their Facebook account at the time of access, Facebook Ireland Ltd. may also link the data to the respective user account.
If the user contacts us via Facebook, the personal data entered by the user on that occasion is used to process the request. The user’s data is deleted by us once the user’s request has been finally answered and no statutory retention obligations, e.g. in the event of a subsequent contractual relationship, prevent this.
Facebook Ireland Ltd. may also set cookies to process the data.
If the user does not agree to this processing, it is possible to prevent the installation of cookies by adjusting the browser settings accordingly. Cookies already stored can also be deleted at any time. The settings for this depend on the respective browser. In the case of Flash cookies, processing cannot be prevented via the browser settings, but by adjusting the Flash Player accordingly. If the user prevents or restricts the installation of cookies, this may mean that not all functions of Facebook are fully usable.
Further details on processing activities, how to prevent them and on the deletion of data processed by Facebook can be found in Facebook’s data policy:
https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation
It cannot be ruled out that processing by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited also takes place via Meta Platforms, Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, California 94025 in the USA.
To promote our products and services and to communicate with interested parties or customers, we operate a company presence on the Instagram platform.

In this respect, we point out that user data may be processed outside the European Union, in particular in the USA. This may entail increased risks for users insofar as, for example, later access to user data may be more difficult. We also have no access to this user data. Access is exclusively with LinkedIn.

“Facebook” social plug-in
On our website we use the plug-in of the social network Facebook. Facebook is an internet service of Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland.
If you have given consent for this processing, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. The legal basis may also be Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in improving the quality of our website.
Further information about possible plug-ins and their respective functions is provided by Facebook at
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/
for you.
If the plug-in is embedded on one of the pages of our website you visit, your internet browser downloads a representation of the plug-in from Facebook’s servers in the USA. For technical reasons, it is necessary for Facebook to process your IP address. In addition, the date and time of the visit to our web pages are also recorded.
If you are logged into Facebook while visiting one of our pages that includes the plug-in, the information collected by the plug-in about your specific visit is recognized by Facebook. The information collected in this way may be assigned by Facebook to your personal user account there. For example, if you use Facebook’s so-called “Like” button, this information is stored in your Facebook user account and may be published via the Facebook platform. If you wish to prevent this, you must either log out of Facebook before visiting our website or use an add-on for your internet browser to block the loading of the Facebook plug-in.
Further information about the collection and use of data as well as your related rights and protection options is provided by Facebook in the privacy notices available at
https://www.facebook.com/policy.php
.
Google Analytics
On our website we use Google Analytics. This is a web analysis service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, hereinafter only “Google”.
The Google Analytics service is used to analyze the usage behavior of our website. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, optimization and economic operation of our website.
Usage and user-related information, such as IP address, location, time or frequency of visits to our website, is transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, we use Google Analytics with the so-called anonymization function. Through this function, Google shortens the IP address already within the EU or the EEA.
The data collected in this way is in turn used by Google to provide us with an evaluation of visits to our website and of usage activities there. This data may also be used to provide further services related to the use of our website and the use of the internet.
Google states that it does not combine your IP address with other data. Google also provides at
https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/partners
further data protection information for you, including options for preventing data use.
Google also offers at
https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de
a so-called deactivation add-on along with further information. This add-on can be installed with common internet browsers and gives you further control over the data Google collects when our website is accessed. The add-on tells Google Analytics’ JavaScript (ga.js) that information about visits to our website should not be transmitted to Google Analytics. This does not, however, prevent information from being transmitted to us or to other web analysis services. Whether and which other web analysis services we use is of course also set out in this privacy policy.
Google Maps
On our website we use Google Maps to display our location and to create directions. This is a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, hereinafter only “Google”.
To enable the display of certain fonts on our website, a connection to the Google server in the USA is established when our website is accessed.
If you access the Google Maps component embedded on our website, Google stores a cookie on your device via your internet browser. To display our location and create directions, your user settings and data are processed. We cannot rule out that Google uses servers in the USA.
If you have given consent for this processing, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. The legal basis may also be Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in optimizing the functionality of our website.
Through the connection to Google established in this way, Google can determine from which website your request was sent and to which IP address the directions are to be transmitted.
If you do not agree to this processing, you have the option of preventing the installation of cookies by adjusting the corresponding settings in your internet browser. Details can be found above under the heading “Cookies”.
In addition, the use of Google Maps and the information obtained via Google Maps takes place in accordance with the Google Terms of Servicehttps://policies.google.com/terms?gl=DE&hl=deand the Google Maps Terms of Servicehttps://www.google.com/intl/de_de/help/terms_maps.html.
Furthermore, Google provides at
https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated
https://policies.google.com/privacy
further information.
Google AdWords with conversion tracking
On our website we use the advertising component Google AdWords and, in this context, so-called conversion tracking. This is a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, hereinafter only “Google”.
We use conversion tracking for targeted advertising of our offering. If you have given consent for this processing, the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. The legal basis may also be Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, optimization and economic operation of our website.
If you click on an ad placed by Google, the conversion tracking we use stores a cookie on your device. These so-called conversion cookies expire after 30 days and do not otherwise serve to identify you personally.
If the cookie is still valid and you visit a certain page of our website, both we and Google can evaluate that you clicked on one of our ads placed with Google and that you were subsequently redirected to our website.
With the information obtained in this way, Google creates a statistic for us about visits to our website. We also receive information about the number of users who clicked on our ad(s) and about the pages of our website subsequently accessed. Neither we nor third parties who also use Google AdWords are thereby able to identify you in this way.
Through the corresponding settings of your internet browser, you can also prevent or restrict the installation of cookies. At the same time, you can delete cookies already stored at any time. The steps and measures required for this depend on the specific internet browser you use. If you have questions, please use the help function or documentation of your internet browser or contact its manufacturer or support.
Google also provides at
https://services.google.com/sitestats/de.html
https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/
http://www.google.de/policies/privacy/
further information on this topic and in particular on options for preventing data use.

Use of Facebook Pixel, Facebook Custom Audiences and Facebook Conversions
The Facebook network is operated by Meta Platforms. Where “Facebook” is mentioned below, this means Meta Platforms. On our website we use the “Facebook Pixel”, Custom Audiences and Facebook Conversions from Facebook. “Facebook” is operated by Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland. Facebook’s “Custom Audiences” marketing tool helps reduce scatter loss in marketing. In the head area of the website we have installed a Facebook “counting pixel” (“Facebook Pixel”) which is retrieved from Facebook’s servers each time our website is accessed and registers the access there. This allows website visitors to be specifically included in a Custom Audience. The marketing tool is a targeting option that matches visitors to our website with people on Facebook using the Facebook Pixel. We can specifically address visitor groups with Facebook ads. According to Facebook, the pixel for this purpose plays out browser information, visited websites and the hashed Facebook ID of the website user. It cannot be ruled out that Facebook also transmits the information to a server in a third country. Further information on the Facebook Pixel can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/651294705016616 Further information on Facebook Custom Audiences can be found at: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/audiences-api/websites and https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-pixel/pixel-with-ads/conversion-tracking. As can be seen from the Privacy Shield certification of Facebook, Inc. (available at https://www.privacyshield.gov/list under the search term “Facebook”), Facebook, Inc. has committed to compliance with the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework and the Swiss-US Privacy Shield Framework published by the US Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use and storage of personal data from EU member states or Switzerland. Facebook, Inc. has declared by certification that it complies with the Privacy Shield principles. Further information can be found at: https://de-de.facebook.com/about/privacyshield
